At A Loss And It's Okay
At A Loss And It’s Okay
Finding myself at a loss for words and the funny thing is it’s okay.
Did you sing that while you read it? I did!
This line from the song, Word Of God Speak, by Mercy Me has been running through my head for about 2 weeks. Throughout my day, all of a sudden it just pops in! Not the whole song, just that line.
I love music! But I have a terrible time remembering the lyrics if it isn’t a song I know from 20 or 30 years ago. After hearing the first bar, I can hum the rest of the song to you, but I can’t remember the lyrics, artist, or title to save my life.
This is a challenge for someone that has been in choirs, on the praise team, and a director of youth choirs for years. Because of this, when the same song or lyrics repeatedly come to mind, I always take it as a sign from God. If it’s a song that I relate to a specific person, I will reach out to let them know I’m thinking of them and praying for them. If it’s lyrics, I feel like God is speaking to me personally.
At times I find myself at a loss for the words to say or write. Other times it’s a loss for the actions I need to be taking to move forward in my journey. I find myself taking two steps forward and one step back. My heart tells me it’s okay, you’re still on the path it may just take a little longer. My brain tells me all the lies I’ve allowed myself to believe over the years. So I have been making an effort to take time to just be still and allow God to speak to me and through me.
The devil often slips in and the negative self-talk starts getting loud in my head when I’m attempting to be still. It’s in those moments I hear the lyrics the loudest. I hear and feel God saying, it’s okay. You are on the right path.
If you are on a journey similar to mine, I encourage you to take the time to just be at rest and listen. It’s good for the soul! Take note of when a phrase, song lyric, or song keeps popping into your head…it may be speaking to you.
